Arm Sling Design

It's amazing that one of the most common orthopedic devices has not significantly changed in the last 50 years. The Ultimate Arm Sling® represents the first major breakthrough in arm sling design by incorporating new fabrics and ergonomic design concerns.
There are three reasons arm slings are so uncomfortable: (1) each patient has a different arm length from elbow to hand and traditional arm slings, even in small, medium and large sizes, rarely fit exact arm length; (2) the hand falls out of the sling; (3) slings are made of inflexible fabrics and straps creating distinct pressure points and a "jolting effect" when you move or walk.
The patented Ultimate Arm Sling® solves these problems because (1) it expands lengthwise to accommodate the length of each patient's arm from elbow to wrist and widthwise to accommodate large circumference arms, casts or ice packs; (2) it holds the arm gently by distributing arm weight so evenly that is difficult to identify pressure points; (3) it has full hand and thumb loops that comfortably hold the arm in the sling (the thumb goes through the loop on the inside closest to the body and the remaining four fingers go through the opposing loop - slings fit both left and right arms); and, (4) it allows the arm to move slightly and naturally with you as you breathe and walk reducing the jolting impact on the neck and wrist, the most common complaint.
The strap is sewn of soft, foam backed fabric that adheres to Velcro®. The stretch pouch and the flexibility of the strap combine to complete a circle of support around the arm. Lengthening or shortening the strap does not affect the comfort level, it remains the same.
The Ultimate Arm Sling® is comfortable and easy to use. Regardless of whether you have a temporary injury or a long term or permanent upper extremity disability, comfort is the key. Our slings can be worn all day, everyday with minimal neck fatigue.

Sizes

The Average Adult Ultimate Arm Sling® fits a majority of adults replacing small, medium, large and extra large sizes in regular arm slings. If you are between 5' and 6' tall, 90 - 225 lbs., you are in the "average adult" range.
The Pro-3Xtra Large (250 - 300 lbs. 6' - 6' 7") was created to give the same comfortable benefits of the Average Adult sling but with a spaciously cut pouch and extra wide back strap.
The Child/Small Adult (50 - 90 lbs., 3' 6" - 5') is exactly the same as the Average Adult and Pro-3Xtra Large except smaller.
The Joslin Swathe® is an immobilizer strap designed to be used with the Ultimate Arm Sling®. It is made entirely of fabric that adheres to Velcro® and may be affixed at any length. It does not connect to the sling but wraps around the body to hold the arm down. The Child Swathe fits 50 - 90 lbs. (34 inches long); the Average Adult Swathe fits 90 - 225 lbs. (50 inches long); the Goliath Swathe fits 225+ lbs. (68 inches long).
